For anyone heading west for the Homecoming event and who might fancy a bit of track time too, this looks interesting. So now it looks like the S2K TakeOver folks (based out of Cornwall, NY) have put together a track day out at Buttonwillow Raceway to coincide with the September Honda Homecoming event in SoCal.

I mean, that was the only responsible thing to do once it became very clear we were dealing with a health crisis the likes of which the world hadn't faced in about a century.

2020 had to be postponed and it is now happening in 2021 instead. It was kind of a big deal in the S2000 world in previous years. People have traveled from all over the US and Canada to attend. There are also some loosely organized Sunday brunch events at local venues the next day (Huntington Beach has been a popular choice in past years). After, many choose to go to organized dinners and/or a beach party in Orange County. At HQ they have food, raffles, presentations, some "show" cars, and an opportunity to go over to the Honda Museum to see their collection of cars and motorcycles. The overall format is a Saturday early morning meet-up in a large parking lot to organize into groups, then caravan to the Honda HQ in Torrance, CA. That means they are including the NSX, S2000, and Type R. For 2020, he opted to make some changes and make it the "flagship" event instead of just S2000s. I know some folks have posted previously that they have tickets to this and were planning to go, so I thought I would share some additional info.įirst, some history for those unfamiliar: in 2007, 2010, and 2015, Mike Trinh has organized an S2000-exclusive event called Honda Homecoming.
